Pramāṇa – veda-śāstra (The Vedic scriptures as the source of valid knowledge)
veda-śāstra kahe – ‘sambandha’, ‘abhidheya’, ‘prayojana’
The Vedic śāstras speak about the jīva’s eternal relationship with Kṛṣṇa (sambandha), activities that nurture that relationship (abhidheya) and the supreme goal (prayojana). (Cc. Madhya-līlā, 20.124)
Sambandha (Knowledge of the Eternal Relationship with Kṛṣṇa)
Kṛṣṇa (The position of Lord Kṛṣṇa)
parama īśvara kṛṣṇa svayaṁ bhagavān
tāte baḍa, tāṅra sama keha nāhi āna
Kṛṣṇa, the Supreme Controller is Svayam-Bhagavān. Thus He is the greatest. No one is equal to Him, nor is anyone greater than Him. (Cc. Madhya-līlā 21.34).
Kṛṣṇa-śakti (Kṛṣṇa’s energies)
kṛṣṇera ananta-śakti, tāte tina-pradhāna
‘cic-chakti’, ‘māyā-śakti’, ‘jīva-śakti’-nāma
Kṛṣṇa has unlimited power, which is divided into three divisions – these are known as the spiritual potency, the material potency and the jīvas. (Cc. Madhya-līlā 8.151).
Rasa (The transcendental mellows)
kimvā, prema-rasa-maya kṛṣṇera svarūpa
tāṅra śakti tāṅra saha haya eka-rūpa
Thus, Kṛṣṇa’s form is filled with prema-rasa. His energy is identical with Him. (Cc. Ādi-līlā 4.86).
Jīva (The living entities)
vibhinnāṁśa jīva-tāṅra śaktite gaṇana
The jīvas are His separated expansions. They are considered among His various potencies. (Cc. Madhya-līlā 22.9).
Baddha-jīva (The bound jīva)
‘kṛṣṇa-nitya-dāsa’-jīva tāhā bhuli’ gela
ei doṣe māyā tāra galāya bāndhila
The neck of the jīva is bound by the chain of māyā because he has forgotten that he is eternally a servant of Kṛṣṇa. (Cc. Madhya-līlā 22.24).
bhramite bhramite yadi sādhu-vaidya pāya
tāṅra upadeśa-mantre piśācī palāya
Wandering throughout the universe, one may get the association of a sādhu-physician, whose instructions and mantra force the witch of māyā to flee. (Cc. Madhya-līlā 22.14-15).
Jīveśvara-māyā-paraspara-sambandhaḥ (The relationship between living entities, the Supreme Lord and His illusory potency)
icchāya jagad-rūpe pāya pariṇāma
By His inconceivable energies and will, Bhagavān transforms the material cosmos. (Cc. Ādi-līlā 7.124).
kṛṣṇera ‘taṭasthā-śakti’ ‘bhedābheda-prakāśa’
The jīva is the marginal energy and simultaneously one with and different from Kṛṣṇa. (Cc. Madhya-līlā 20.108).
Abhidheya (The process of attaining Kṛṣṇa)
anya-vāñchā, anya-pūjā chāḍi’ jñāna’, ‘karma’
anukūlye sarvendriye kṛṣṇānuśīlana
One should give up offering respects or worship to any other, and one should abandon the path of jñāna and karma. One should engage the senses in that which is favourable to bhakti which is the cultivation of Kṛṣṇa conscious activities. (Cc. Madhya-līlā 19.168).
kṛṣṇa-bhakti-abhidheya, sarva-śāstre kaya
One should perform kṛṣṇa-bhakti. This is what all the śāstras say.” (Cc. Madhya-līlā 22.5).
Prayojana (The ultimate goal of life)
ei ‘śuddha-bhakti’- iha haite ‘premā’ haya
This is pure bhakti. By rendering this, one develops prema. (Cc. Madhya-līlā 19.169).
sei prema-‘prayojana’ sarvānanda-dhāma
This prema is the ultimate goal and the abode of all bliss. (Cc. Madhya-līlā 23.13).
