Prāta-līlā (Early Morning Pastimes)

PART 1

rādhe!
pratyuṣe tomāra, sugandhi salile,
mukha-candra dhoyāiba
sugandhi tailete, uddhvartana kriyā
kare snāna karāiba

Rādhe! At dawn, I will wash Your moon-like face with fragrant water and I will apply scented oil and massage Your body, then I will bathe You.

śrī-rūpa-mañjarī, nirdeśa bujhiyā
parāiba suvasana
lalitā ādeśe, tomā sājāiba
diyā nānā ābharaṇa

Understanding Your instructions, Śrī Rūpa Mañjarī will dress You with nice garments. On the order of Lalitā, I will decorate You with various ornaments.

caraṇe alakta, siṅtāya sindhura
lalāṭe tilaka diba
se rūpa dekhiyā, ānanda majhiyā
pada-tale paḍe raba

I will apply red dye to Your feet, sindhura on the partition of Your hair and tilaka on Your forehead, Seeing such beauty, I will be immersed in bliss and aways remain at Your feet.

saba sakhī mile, rasodgāra kathā
tomāra sabhāya bali
kundalatā sakhī, yaśodā ājñāya
se kāle āsibe cale

Upon meeting with all sakhīs, conversations emanating rasa will be spoken of within Your assembly. Then Kundalatā Sakhī, on the order order of Yaśodā, Will come here at that time.

PART 2

rādhe!
kṛṣṇera kuśala, bali kundalatā
tomāya āhvāna kare
nandīśvara giyā, prāṇa-nātha lāgi
annapāka karibāre

Rādhe! After Kundalatā speaks about the well-being of Kṛṣṇa, she will invite You. Then You will go to Nandīśvara to cook rice for the Lord of Your life.

ohe sakhī-gaṇa, nandīśvara cala
lañā sabe śrī-rādhāya
jaṭilā ādeśa, haiyeche yāite
yaśomatī prārthanāya

Oh sakhīs! Let us go to Nandīśvara and take Śrī Rādhā along with all of us. Jaṭilā has instructed us to go there based on the prayer of Yaśomatī.

vilamba haile, kṛṣṇera bhojane
vilamba haibe ati
gocaraṇa yātrā, śīghrai sāriyā
rādhā-kuṇḍe habe gati

If we are late then Kṛṣṇa’s lunch will be very much delayed, He will quickly finish His journey grazing the cows, then He will eventually come to Rādhā-kuṇḍa.

eta śūni sabe, haiyā utalā
ekatre uṭhibe tabe
tomāre laiyā, nandīśvara yāñā
kṛṣṇa-sevā kari sabe

After hearing all of this and becoming anxious, we will get up together, and taking You, we will go to Nandīśvara, and all serve Kṛṣṇa.

PART 3

rādhe!
nandīśvara yāite, pathe nānā  kathā
kundalatā parihāsa
parama ānande, sabe cali yāya
āmi laiba dhauta-vāsa

Rādhe! While going to Nandīśvara, various talks happen along the way, and Kundalatā makes jokes. On the way everyone is in supreme bliss, and I carry their washed clothes.

pākera masalā, sahingu jiraka
yāte tava kṛṣṇa prīta
saṅge lañā cali, tabe katakṣaṇe
nandīśvare upanīta

I also take the spices for cooking, such as asafoetida and cumin, so that Your Kṛṣṇa will be pleased. Then after sometime, we reach Nandīśvara.

tava pada yuga, dvāre dhoyāiba
keśe puṅchi pādukhāni
yaśodā samīpe, yāiyā praṇati
kariba vinaye dhani

I will wash Your feet at the door, and dry them with my hair. When Yaśodā approaches I will go and offer her obeisance with great humility.

yaśodā snehete, kolete kariyā
ādare uṭhāye nibe
pākālaye giyā, rohiṇīra sāthe
tabe pāka kārya habe

With affection Yaśodā will affectionately take me on her lap. I will go to the kitchen with Rohiṇī, and then the cooking will take place.

PART 4

rādhe!
tathā nīlamaṇi,  go-dohana sāri
snānādi su-samāpane
apāṅga darśane, tomāre heriyā
jananīke ḍāki āne

Rādhe! There Nīlamaṇi (Kṛṣṇa who is like a sapphire), after He has finished milking the cows and nicely completed His bath etc, sees You from the corner of His eye, and calls out to His mother.

bale o jananī, kṣudhita hainu
aneka haila dina
karāha bhojanā, yāba gocāraṇe
laye gābhi sakhā-gaṇa

He says, “O mother, I have become hungry! The day is getting late, please feed Me! I will soon go to graze the cows, along with the calves and My friends.”

(3)
sakale basiyā, bhojana karibe
aneka praśaṁsā kari
tava pakka anna, aneka virami
vipina calaba hari

Everybody will sit and eat and there will be many praises about Your rice preparation. Then, after taking plenty of rest, Hari will go to forest.

(4)
tabe mā yaśodā, kṛṣṇa avaśeṣa
tomāre khāuyābe sukhe
yata sakhī tava, pāiba prasāda
cali yāvatābhimukhe

Then Mother Yaśōdā will happily feed You the remnants of Kṛṣṇa. All Your sakhīs will take prasāda and we will go towards Yāvaṭa.
