Nagara-kīrtana Nāma-2

(1)
ekbāra bhāva mane
āśā-baśe bhrami’ hethā pā’be ki sukha jīvane
ke tumi, kothāya chile, ki karite hethā ele
kibā kāja kare’ gele, yā’be kathā śarīra-patane

Consider this just once! What kind of happiness in life will you find wandering here, following your desires and hopes? Who are you? Where did you come from? How did you come here? What have you accomplished? Where will you go when this body collapses?

(2)
keno sukha, duḥkha, bhaya, ahaḿtā-mamatā-maya
tuccha jay-parājaya, krodha-hiḿsā, dveṣa anya-jane
bhakativinoda kaya, kari’ gorā-padāśraya
cid-ānanda-rasa-maya hao rādhā-kṛṣṇa-nāma-gāne

Why do you sometimes feel happiness, distress and fear? They arise due to your mood of egotism and possessiveness. Victory, defeat, anger, violence, and envy towards others are all insignificant. Bhaktivinoda says, “Take shelter in the feet of Gaura and sing the names of Rādhā-Kṛṣṇa, then you will become absorbed in the mellows of spiritual bliss (cid-ānanda-rasa).”
