Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura writes about how the process of sādhana is necessary for increasing one’s thirst to attain the Supreme, in this article first published in 1899, in the 11th Volume of Sajjana Toṣaṇī.

In this article "Pratiṣṭhāśa Parivarjana (Desire for Name and Fame)" from 1896, first published in the 8th Volume of Sajjana Toṣaṇī, Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura describes the dangers of pratiṣṭḥāśā (the desire for name and fame) and the necessity for all serious sādhakas to uproot this tendency.

In this article "Mātsarya (Envy)" from Sajjana Toṣaṇi Vol.4, Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura deliberates upon envy according to the Vaiṣṇava perspective as a direct competitor to divine love (prema) and the harm it does to a practicing devotee.

In this article 'Deliberation on the Methodology of Sādhu-saṅga', originally published in Śrī Sajjana-toṣaṇī in 1917, Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura explains the necessity of associating with sādhus (Sādhu-saṅga), as well as the necessity of recognising who is a sādhu.

Śrī Gaṅgā-devīr-māhātmya Viṣaye Arthavāda (Topics in Praise of Śrī Gaṅgā Devī) was first published in Sajjana Toṣaṇi, Vol 10, Issue 4 in 1899. Herein, Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura writes about the purity of the Gaṅgā as well as the offences one may commit in bathing in her waters.
