hari hari kabe mora haibe hena dina
vimala vaiṣṇave rati upajibe
vāsanā haibe kṣīṇa
O Hari! O Hari! When will such a day be mine? When will affection for the pure Vaiṣṇavas awaken within me? When will my desires become weakened and exhausted?

antara-bahire sama vyavahāra
amānī mānada haiba
kṛṣṇa-saṅkīrtane śrī-kṛṣṇa-smaraṇe
satata majiyā raba
When will my conduct be the same inwardly and outwardly? When will I be free from the desire for honour while offering honour to others? When will I remain constantly absorbed in kṛṣṇa-saṅkīrtana and remembrance of Śrī Kṛṣṇa?
(3)
e dehera kriyā abhyāse kariba
jīvana yāpana lāgi’
śrī-kṛṣṇa-bhajane anukūla yāhā
tāhe haiba anurāgī
When will I perform the activities of this body only as a matter of habit, merely for maintaining life? When will I become attached only to that which is favourable for kṛṣṇa-bhajana?
(4)
bhajanera yāhā pratikūla tāhā
dṛḍha-bhāve tyāgiba
bhajite bhajite samaya āsile
e deha chāḍiyā diba
Whatever is unfavourable to bhajana, I will firmly reject. Then, while continuously engaged in worship, when the proper time arrives, I will give up this body.

bhaktivinoda ei āśā kari’
basiyā godruma-vane
prabhu-kṛpā lāgi’ vyākula antare
sadā kānde saṅgopane
Cherishing these hopes, Bhaktivinoda sits in the forests of Godruma. Deeply anxious for the Lord’s mercy, he continually weeps in a secluded place.
