(1)
gopīnātha, ghucāo saṁsāra-jvālā
avidyā-yātanā, āra nāhi sahe,
janama-maraṇa-mālā
O Gopīnātha, please extinguish the blazing fire of material existence. I can no longer endure the torments of ignorance, nor the endless chain of birth and death.
(2)
gopīnātha, āmi ta’ kāmera dāsa
viṣaya-vāsanā, jāgiche hṛdaye,
phāndiche karama-phāṅsa
O Gopīnātha, I am indeed a servant of lust. Material desires have awakened within my heart, and I am ensnared in the noose of karma.
(3)
gopīnātha, kabe vā jāgiba āmi
kāma-rūpa ari, dūre tyājiba,
hṛdaye sphuribe tumi
O Gopīnātha, when will I awaken? When will I cast far away my enemy in the form of lust? When will You manifest within my heart?
(4)
gopīnātha, āmi ta’ tomāra jana
tomāre chāḍiyā, saṁsāra bhajinu,
bhuliyā āpana-dhana
O Gopīnātha, I am Your own servant. Abandoning You, I worshiped this world of material existence, forgetting my true treasure.
(5)
gopīnātha, tumi ta’ sakali jāna
āpanāra jane, daṇḍiyā ekhana,
śrī-caraṇe deha sthāna
O Gopīnātha, You know everything. Punish Your own servant as You see fit, and then grant him a place at Your divine feet.
(6)
gopīnātha, ei ki vicāra tava
vimukha dekhiyā, chāḍa nija-jane,
nā kara karuṇā-lava
O Gopīnātha, is this truly Your judgment? Seeing Your own servant turned away from You, do You abandon him and withhold even a particle of mercy?
(7)
gopīnātha, āmi ta’ mūrakha ati
kise bhāla haya, kabhu nā bujhinu,
tāi hena mama gati
O Gopīnātha, I am exceedingly foolish. I never understood what was truly good for me; therefore this has become my condition.
(8)
gopīnātha, tumi ta’ paṇḍita-vara
mūḍhera maṅgala, tumi anveṣibe,
e dāse nā bhāva para
O Gopīnātha, You are the wisest of all. You seek the welfare of the foolish. Please do not regard this servant as a stranger.
