mana re, dhana-mada nitānta asāra
dhana jana vitta yata, ei dehera anugata
deha gele se sakala chāra
O mind, pride in wealth is utterly worthless. Wealth, followers, and possessions merely accompany the body. When the body is gone, all of them become as insignificant as ashes.

vidyāra yateka ceṣṭā, cikitsaka upadeṣṭā
keho deha rākhibāre nāre
ajapā haile śeṣa, deha-mātra avaśeṣa
jīva nāhi thākena ādhāre
Despite all learning, physicians and advisers cannot preserve the body forever. When the life-breath comes to an end, only the body remains, and the soul no longer stays within that shelter.

dhane yadi prāṇa dita, dhanī rājā nā marita
dharāmara haita rāvaṇa
dhane nāhi rākhe deha, deha gele nāhe keha
ataeva ki karibe dhana
If wealth could give life, then wealthy kings would never die. Rāvaṇa would have become immortal. Wealth cannot preserve the body, and when the body is gone no one can save it. Therefore, what can wealth ultimately accomplish?

yadi thāke bahu dhana, nije ha’be akiñcana
vaiṣṇavera kara upakāra
jīve dayā anukṣaṇa, rādhā-kṛṣṇa-arādhana
kara sadā ha’ye sadācāra*
If you possess abundant wealth, remain personally detached from it and use it in service to the Vaiṣṇavas. Show kindness to all jīvas, worship Śrī Śrī Rādhā-Kṛṣṇa at every moment, and always conduct yourself with saintly character.
