A Critique of ‘Śrī Gīta Govinda’ (Samālocana – Śrī Gīta Govinda)

Samālocana – Śrī Gīta Govinda (A Critique of 'Śrī Gīta Govinda') was first published in Sajjana Toṣaṇī Vol.7. issue 2 in 1895. In this book review, Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura applauds the work of two translators who have rendered the Gīta Govinda into Bengali, presents a synopsis of the life of Jayadeva Gosvāmī, and also gives a warning to those who are bereft of vraja-rasa.

Bhakti-siddhānta-viruddha o Rasābhāsa (Opposition to the Conclusions of Bhakti and Incompatible Rasa) was first published in Sajjana Toṣaṇi Vol.6. Issue 2. In this article Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura writes about the various styles of rasa-kīrtana that orginated with Śrīnivāsa Ācārya, Narottama Dāsa Ṭhākura and Śyāmānanda Prabhu. He also discusses the so-called 'rasa-kīrtana' performed by professional kīrtaneers.

Talks Regarding the Two Dramas, Śrī Vidagdha-Mādhava and Śrī Lalita-Mādhava (Śrī Vidagdha-Mādhava o Śrī Lalita-Mādhava Nāṭaka-Dvaya Sambandhe Vaktavya)

Śrī Vidagdha-Mādhava o Śrī Lalita-Mādhava Nāṭaka-Dvaya Sambandhe Vaktavya (Talks Regarding the Two Dramas, Śrī Vidagdha-Mādhava and Śrī Lalita-Mādhava) is an undated and unpublished work of Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura which first appeared in the 20th volume of The Gauḍīya in 1942. In this article, Bhaktivinoda speaks about Śrīla Rūpa Gosvāmī's two dramas Vidagdha-Mādhava and Lalita-Mādhava, and examines the rasa within them as regards pārakīya and svakīya bhāva.
